Water has been around for centuries, providing us with a means to live. Without water,, humankind would not exist. Water cooler specialists, Crystal Clear, take a special journey down memory lane to go back to the humble beginnings of water and how it has helped civilisation today.

As it is widely known, water is a chemical substance with the formula H₂O. It covers around 70 per cent of the Earth’s surface and is vital to the existence of most known forms of life. Having clean drinking water has been essential to the survival of humans and other life forms for as long as we can remember and access to clean, sanitised water has improved steadily through the years, although for many third-world countries such as North Africa and parts of Asia, clean drinking water is still a luxury.

Some of the most beautiful landmarks in the world are water based; the River Thames in London, the River Nile in Egypt, the River Ganges in India and the Niagra Falls in Canada, are just a few. The importance of water has been recognised throughout history, whether it be through religion or culture. Water coolers and water dispensers have been steadily developed through the years to ensure that clean, sanitised water is available to everyone, whether at work, home or somewhere else.

Major civilisations in the world have depended upon water to survive. the major metropolitan cities in the world such as London, New York, Paris, Tokyo, Mumbai and Buenos Aires to name a few, owe their successes in large to the availability of water. In countries where water is scarce, access to clean drinking water always has been a major factor in human development, and charities and not-for-profit organisations around the world are working hard to provide this much needed access.

More and more employers are recognising the need for hydration at work and are providing desktop or bottled water coolers for their employees’ use. Dehydration is known to be a major cause of illnesses and sick days at work, and so employers are doing everything they can to try to prevent this. Gyms and health clubs are investing heavily in water coolers for their members’ use as dehydration during a workout is a major cause in passing out or fainting.

Water has and always will be a lifeline for most life forms. Access to clean drinking water is imperative if we are to survive.
